Provide two separate spaces to store clean and soiled linen carts. Carts will transport linen to the laundry facilities located either in the spa, in the hotel, or at an offsite laundry facility. Confirm the laundry requirements and cart sizes with your Discovery Well Being representative.
Locate the clean and soiled linen cart staging near the laundry delivery area via the; service hallway, service elevator, or laundry chute. Avoid locating the rooms in areas where it is exposed to view from guest areas.
Clean linen carts should be separated from soiled linen carts when possible.
Include clear floor space for both clean and soiled linen cart staging.
Cart sizes and shapes vary depending upon the purpose of the cart.
Cart quantities vary depending upon the facility size, frequency of laundry deliveries, and laundry collection hours.
Each treatment requires approximately 6 to 12 pieces of linen and 1 guest robe and slippers equating to approximately 3.6 kg (8 lbs) of laundry per guest. Size the linen staging facilities based on the number of treatment rooms, treatments, use of wet areas and frequency of deliveries.
Cart sizes may vary depending upon operational requirements of the laundry, limitations of the hallways or elevators, and the hotel standards.
Provide easy access to the back of house service hallways for linen removal throughout the day.
Provide corner guards and chair rails at back of house openings, corners and hallways accommodating cart traffic
Laundry traffic should never interfere with guest spaces.
If the Discovery Well Being is multi-level minimize labor and service circulation through the space. Consider managing linen vertically with laundry chutes, dumb waiters, or dedicated back of house elevators.
