Ice Fountain

Objective

An ice dispenser composed of a chute emptying crushed or flaked ice into a decorative basin. Guests use the ice to cool down and promote circulation while using the wet amenities.

Space Planning

Locate ice fountains adjacent to the steam, sauna and other hot amenities. Fountains may also be included within the snow or ice cabins as a decorative feature.

Design Features

  • Provide vapor-proof and insulated construction around the ice fountain following criteria specified by local building code regulations and the ice fountain installer.
  • Provide decorative basin or vessel to contain the crushed ice.
  • Locate vessel at approx 92 cm (3’) above the finished floor. This is used while standing.
  • Ice chute is typically wall mounted or ceiling mounted.
  • Utilize interesting lighting at the ice fountain to highlight and create a memorable experience.
  • Locate wall mounted sensor for ice regulation. Coordinate with installation instructions.
  • Locate controls and timers in back of house space to be controlled by the employees.

Furniture and Equipment

Ice Dispenser Equipment: Provide ample ceiling space or a utility room adjacent to the ice fountain for the necessary equipment. The dispenser incorporates a wall mounted sensor to regulate the amount of ice produced. Coordinate with the manufacturer prior to installation for additional information.
