Spa Dispensary

Objective:

The dispensary is primarily used for the storage and mixing of spa product preparations by spa employees. This area also is used to clean spa treatment utensils and equipment. An enclosed pantry is required to support the beverage and snack service for the relaxation lounges. Equipment may vary by location based on extent of food/beverage service offered. Include separate work areas for beverage and snack service.

Dispensary/Product Storage Location:

Provide one dispensary located near the treatment rooms to provide employees with convenient access before and after each spa treatment. Do not provide a line of sight into this area from the guest areas. Provide these areas with direct access to service circulation corridors.

Pantry Location:

Provide one centrally located pantry which services relaxation lounges, locker rooms and treatment rooms. At smaller spas the dispensary may serve this function.

Additional Considerations:

  • Large spas may require more than one dispensary to service treatment areas.
  • Smaller spas may save space by combining the dispensary with the staff room.

  • This may be the location for cleaning footwear and may require a two compartment laundry sink and work surface.
  • Include additional storage for facility recycling operations.
  • Storage for portable massage tables

Provide the following Utilities:

  • Electrical: Provide one duplex per 2’-0” of counter.
  • Phone/Data: provide at each computer terminal.
