Relaxation Lounge

3min

Objective

Provide a gender specific or co-ed relaxation lounge depending on cultural norms to read magazines or relax before or after appointments. Attendants may greet guests in the lounge and escort them to the appropriate treatment spaces.

Space Planning

Place the lounge adjacent to any co-ed locker amenities and the treatment room areas.

Design Features

  • Acoustically isolate this space from active areas.
  • If the project and climate conditions allow, consider integrating outdoor spaces with the relaxation lounge.
  • Minimize the number of doors and passageways as is feasible. The paths that connect them should be as short and direct as possible without interfering with activity areas within the space.
  • Include a focal feature within the room or views to the outside. Focal features might include fireplaces, water feature, art, or libraries.
  • Ensure a mixture of chaise and lounge seating with ottomans to accommodate conversations and introspection.
  • Include a self-service beverage station.
  • Include magazine and newspaper storage.
  • Coordinate flat screen television and technology requirements with your Discovery Well Being representative.
